India-Pakistan DGMOs Hold Hotline Talks — Both Sides Commit to No Firing, Discuss Forward Troop Reductions

| India-Pakistan

India's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai and Pakistan's Maj Gen Kashif Abdullah held a round of military hotline talks on May 12, 2026, reviewing implementation of the ceasefire understanding from May 2025. Both sides committed to maintaining no firing and no aggressive action, and agreed to consider measures aimed at reducing border tensions including possible forward troop reductions. The talks were held at 17:00 (originally scheduled for 12:00) and represent one of the rare direct military-to-military contacts maintained since the Operation Sindoor / Marka-e-Haq ceasefire. Despite the dialogue at the military level, the broader diplomatic bilateral freeze remains fully intact: no ambassadors exchanged, mutual airspace closure extended through May 24, Indus Waters Treaty suspended, all direct trade halted.
