Field Marshal Asim Munir: Pakistan Forces 'Fully Prepared' for Decisive Response to Any Indian Aggression
Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan's Army Chief of Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, issued a sharp public warning to India around April 21–24, 2026, stating Pakistan's armed forces remain 'fully prepared to counter hostile intentions' and that any act of aggression would be met with a 'firm and immediate response.' At a ceremony attended by overseas Pakistani citizens, Munir declared Pakistan's defenses 'impregnable' and warned India would 'not be able to overpower Pakistan.' The warnings came amid the charged atmosphere of the first anniversary of the Pahalgam massacre (April 22, 2025) — the event that triggered India's Operation Sindoor — and amid continued Indian Army messaging that Operation Sindoor 'continues.' Munir, who was accorded the rank of Field Marshal after the May 2025 four-day India-Pakistan war and extended as Chief of Defence Forces through 2030, had previously made nuclear references in a Tampa, Florida speech warning India not to interfere with Indus dams: 'We are a nuclear nation — if we are going to go down, we will take half the world down with us.' His April 2026 warnings signal Pakistan's continued nuclear-backed deterrence posture as bilateral tensions persist one year after the military exchange.
