Operation Arahama: Terrorist Killed in Ganderbal Encounter, J&K

| India-Pakistan

Indian security forces launched Operation Arahama in the Arhama area of Ganderbal district, Jammu & Kashmir, on the night of March 31–April 1, 2026, killing at least one militant in a joint encounter. The operation involved two battalions of the Assam Regiment (Indian Army), J&K Police, and CRPF. The area was placed on high alert following intelligence inputs and the operation continued into April 2. The encounter was part of an intensified counter-insurgency effort in the Ganderbal district, which connects Srinagar to the Kargil–Ladakh highway — a strategically sensitive corridor. Approximately 90 militants remain active in J&K as of late March 2026, with security forces reporting an ongoing but lower-intensity insurgency.
