NIA Court Sentences Kashmiri Separatist Asiya Andrabi to Life Imprisonment

| India-Pakistan

A Delhi National Investigation Agency (NIA) court sentenced prominent Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi — head of Dukhtaran-e-Millat — to life imprisonment under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for funding terrorism and sedition. Her associates Fehmeeda Sofi and Nahida Nasreen received 30-year sentences each. Pakistan's Foreign Office strongly condemned the verdict as 'politically driven,' while Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Mehbooba Mufti called for compassionate review given Andrabi's age and health. APHC-AJK wrote to the UN Secretary-General calling the conviction fabricated.
