Nightly Protests Continue Outside Indianapolis ICE Office and Hotel Housing Agents

Protesters gathered for a third straight night on September 6, 2026 outside a Hampton Inn on Indianapolis' west side believed to be housing ICE agents involved in the unnamed enforcement surge that began around Aug 31, less than half a mile from the ICE field office. More than 50 people turned out Thursday evening (Sept 3) and a smaller group Friday morning (Sept 4), following a Saturday (Sept 5) demonstration at the ICE office itself that drew over 100 protesters. Organizers, including community organizer Jesus Ramirez and Stephen Lane of the Indianapolis Party for Socialism and Liberation, used megaphones, horns, a trombone, saxophone, and makeshift drums in what Lane called 'a noise rally, basically, to make sure that they feel very unwelcome'; passing cars and semi-trucks honked in solidarity. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police were dispatched to the hotel and warned protesters they would violate the local noise ordinance after 11 p.m., but no arrests were reported. Ramirez said the demonstrations aim to make ICE personnel feel scrutinized while acknowledging collateral effects on 'six other people around that have nothing to do with it.'
