ICE Traffic-Stop Arrests in Londonderry, Vermont Draw Rapid Community Response
ICE agents conducted a targeted immigration enforcement operation the morning of August 7, 2026 in Londonderry, Windham County, Vermont, stopping a vehicle carrying workers headed to a construction job site around 9 a.m. Migrant Justice said five people were arrested; ICE described those detained as 'criminal illegal aliens' but did not confirm an exact count. Windham County Sheriff Mark Anderson said his office does not collaborate with ICE and that the agency's operations have 'eroded trust' with immigrant communities. Two Rivers Area Indivisible organized a rally in nearby Chester the same evening, and state Rep. Chris Morrow scheduled a community support meeting for the following day at Londonderry's Neighborhood Connections. U.S. Rep. Becca Balint's office said it was coordinating with state and local partners and community organizations in response.
