Border Czar Homan Launches Promised ICE 'Surge' Across New York City

Tom Homan announced the long-threatened ICE enforcement surge across all five New York City boroughs had begun, months after first warning Gov. Kathy Hochul and Mayor Zohran Mamdani in a June 8 Fox & Friends appearance that the city's sanctuary policies would trigger expanded federal action. The surge, which Homan said could run more than a month, was first visible in Queens with plans to expand citywide. It follows a sweeping sanctuary-state law Hochul signed in late May 2026 and comes as ICE touted more than 6,500 criminal arrests already made in NYC ahead of the surge.
