Federal Judge Orders Sweeping Conditions Overhaul at Adelanto ICE Processing Center

U.S. District Judge Sunshine S. Sykes granted a preliminary injunction in a class-action suit brought by detainees and immigrant advocacy groups, ordering DHS and ICE to overhaul medical care, sanitation, food, recreation, disability accommodations, and visitation access at the Adelanto ICE Processing Center in San Bernardino County. Judge Sykes found the plaintiffs 'demonstrated they are likely to prevail' on claims that conditions at the GEO Group-operated facility violate Fifth Amendment protections against inhumane confinement, following California AG Rob Bonta's earlier warnings about conditions there.
