DACA Announced — 800,000 Protected from Removal

President Obama announces the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program through executive action. DACA grants two-year renewable reprieves from deportation and work authorization to approximately 800,000 undocumented individuals brought to the U.S. as children. ICE is directed not to initiate enforcement proceedings against DACA recipients.
