Gang Suppression Force Begins Taking Over PNH Positions in Kenscoff

The move follows the August 28 UN Security Council emergency session at which BINUH chief Carlos Ruiz Massieu welcomed increased coordination among the PNH, the Armed Forces of Haiti, and the GSF and urged the force's rapid, complete deployment; the GSF remained far short of its 5,500-person authorized ceiling, with roughly 1,000 personnel in-country, and its initial 12-month authorization is set to expire September 30, 2026 absent a Security Council renewal.
