Kokorat San Ras, Gran Grif Gangs Attack Marmont Paul, Saint-Michel-de-l'Atalaye

Members of the Kokorat San Ras and Gran Grif gangs attacked the Marmont Paul locality in the 7th communal section of Saint-Michel-de-l'Atalaye, Artibonite department, HaitiLibre reported August 18, 2026. At least one person was killed and several others wounded; gunmen burned homes and forced residents to flee — the latest in a string of Kokorat San Ras/Gran Grif attacks in Artibonite following the August 7-8 Gros-Mornes massacre, in a department that has recorded 381 killings (25.7% of Haiti's 2026 national total).
