Sunrise Airways Launches Daily Cap-Haïtien – Santo Domingo Route; Named Official Airline of Haitian Football Federation for World Cup
Sunrise Airways launched a new daily direct air service between Cap-Haïtien and Santo Domingo on June 6, 2026. The route operates with departures from Cap-Haïtien at 5:30 p.m. (arriving Santo Domingo 6:15 p.m.) and returns from Santo Domingo at 7:45 a.m. (arriving Cap-Haïtien 8:30 a.m.), with bookings available via Sunrise Airways' website, mobile app, sales offices, and travel agencies. The carrier also announced its designation as the official airline partner of the Haitian Football Federation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The new route improves regional connectivity for northern Haiti, which relies on Cap-Haïtien airport as its primary air link given gang control of Port-au-Prince and the US FAA flight ban over Port-au-Prince airspace through September 2026. In May 2026, the Dominican Republic also reopened its airspace to Cap-Haïtien after approximately two years of suspension. The route enhances business, diaspora, and trade connectivity between northern Haiti and the Dominican Republic while circumventing the gang-controlled capital corridor — a significant logistical development for a region where Artibonite gang expansion had disrupted Route Nationale 1.
