Protests Reach 638th Consecutive Day; 69-Year-Old Demonstrator Jailed 15 Days
Demonstrations outside Parliament and the Tbilisi City Council continued into their 638th consecutive day, with protesters again demanding a return to the Euro-Atlantic course, the release of political prisoners, and free and fair elections, carrying signs reading 'Russia is an occupier' and 'Bidzina, you should also leave.' On day 637 (Aug 26), 69-year-old protest regular Shota Odishvili was arrested and given 15 days' administrative detention for insulting police officers.
