Tbilisi Protesters Mark Ukraine's Independence Day with Solidarity March

| Georgia Crisis

On the 635th consecutive day of anti-government protest, demonstrators gathered at the Ukrainian embassy in Tbilisi under the banner '#IndependenceInMyHeart' and marched to the Taras Shevchenko monument wearing Ukrainian national colors. Police prevented marchers from carrying large flags on the roadway and forced protesters to fold a large Ukrainian flag at the monument. Former president Salome Zourabichvili addressed the crowd: 'Our struggle and their struggle are the same. Today, all our hopes are placed on Ukraine's struggle.' A Ukrainian embassy representative, Anatoly Khrystenko, also spoke. The march ended at Parliament and the Tbilisi City Council.
