Poland Summons Israeli Ambassador Over Discontinued World Central Kitchen Probe
Poland's Foreign Ministry summoned Israel's ambassador on August 21, 2026 to express its 'great disappointment' after being informed on August 19 that the IDF had discontinued its investigation into the April 2024 strike on a World Central Kitchen aid convoy that killed seven humanitarian workers, including Polish volunteer Damian Sobol. The UK, Canada and Australia — whose citizens were also killed in the strike — issued a joint statement calling the IDF's decision to close the case without charges 'shameful' and another example of the lack of accountability for incidents in Gaza. World Central Kitchen condemned the IDF's findings as 'inconsistent with the full truth and deeply offensive.'
