14-Year-Old Suhail Abu Shalouf Shot Dead While Collecting Firewood Near Yellow Line

Suhail Masoud Abu Shalouf, 14, was shot and killed by Israeli forces on the evening of August 16, 2026 while gathering firewood in the Al-Mawasi area south of Khan Younis, near the Yellow Line. The Palestinian Red Crescent Society recovered his body; his family said his brother had previously been killed by Israeli forces. Separately the same day, a child was shot and injured by an Israeli quadcopter drone east of the Bureij refugee camp, and several Palestinians were wounded when a strike hit the roof of a house in the Nuseirat refugee camp. Gaza's Health Ministry said 1,262 Palestinians have been killed and 4,168 wounded since the October 2025 ceasefire took effect.
