Israel's Supreme Court on June 1, 2026 (Day 964) cleared the legal path for the new Mossad Director, Gofman, to take over the intelligence agency effective June 2. The transition marks a significant shift in Israeli intelligence leadership during an active military campaign. The Mossad has played a central role in the Gaza war, including targeted killings of Hamas leadership figures such as Ismail Haniyeh (July 2024), Yahya Sinwar (October 2024), Mohammed Sinwar (May 2026), and Mohammed Odeh (May 2026). The new Mossad leadership will oversee ongoing operations against Hamas's remaining military structure and participate in ceasefire negotiations.
