IDF Sniper Kills Food-Seeker in Jabalia Camp; 8-Year-Old Found Dead After Northwest Gaza Strikes; Naval Fire Wounds Fishermen

| Gaza War

On Day 957 of the Gaza war (May 25, 2026), IDF sniper fire killed Samih Dardouna, 23, near a clinic in Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza. A relative told reporters Dardouna was 'looking for food to feed his displaced children' at the time of the shooting. Separately, the body of 8-year-old Hani Abdullah Shakshak was recovered from a tent in the Al Tuwam area of northwest Gaza following overnight Israeli airstrikes. Israeli naval vessels fired heavy machine-gun rounds toward Palestinian fishermen off Gaza's coast, wounding three. The IDF also confirmed on May 25 that its May 24 Nuseirat strike targeted Mohammad Abu Mallouh — identified as a senior Hamas technical expert in weapons production who had used the ceasefire to manufacture new weapons. The IDF carried out controlled demolitions of residential structures in eastern Khan Younis, Gaza City, and northwest Gaza.
