Hamas Launches Unprecedented Attack on Israel

Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad fighters breach the Gaza fence at approximately 6:29 AM, launching a coordinated multi-point assault on southern Israel. Around 3,000 militants enter Israeli territory, attacking kibbutzim, towns, and military bases. Approximately 1,200 Israelis and foreign nationals are killed — the deadliest attack on Jews since the Holocaust — and 251 hostages are taken into Gaza.
