UKAEA and Eni Launch Rh3ova, a Joint Venture for Fusion Fuel-Cycle Services
The UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and Italian energy major Eni launched Rh3ova on July 2, 2026, a UK-based joint venture providing specialist consultancy and operational services across the fusion fuel cycle — from feasibility studies through deployment and operations — for deuterium and tritium management. Rh3ova combines UKAEA's 30+ years of tritium-handling experience (including 40+ years operating the Joint European Torus) with Eni's industrial and engineering capabilities, and complements the two organizations' joint H3AT Tritium Loop Facility. Leadership includes Giorgio Ricci Maccarini (CEO), Sophie Davies (CCO), Donald Cockburn (CFO), and Iryna Bennett (CTO). The venture held a public launch webinar on July 14, 2026 to introduce its services to fusion developers. The move reflects the UK's push to become a global leader in commercial fusion supply chains as private and public fusion projects scale toward pilot plants.
