At least 52 civilians were reported killed during three days of heavy fighting around Alamata, with artillery reportedly striking residential areas and a market. Government troops appear to have taken control of the town and may be advancing north, with clashes reported around Korem, about 100 km south of Mekelle. Médecins Sans Frontières-supported hospitals have reportedly admitted more than 700 wounded. Fighting has spread to Amhara and Afar; communications and banking in Tigray are disrupted and the Lalibela airport is closed. Independent verification remains limited.
