Qatar Calls for Ceasefire, UAE Backs Government as Fighting Spreads Beyond Tigray

Qatar urged an immediate ceasefire citing threats to Ethiopia's unity and sovereignty, while the UAE declared full solidarity with the government. Fighting has displaced roughly 150,000 people across Tigray, Amhara and Afar after Tigrayan forces seized the Mekelle, Axum and Shire airports, prompting Ethiopian Airlines suspensions.
