Sisi Hosts 10th Egypt-Greece-Cyprus Trilateral Summit at El Alamein, Backing Gaza Roadmap and Nile Water Rights

President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides met at El Alamein on September 8, 2026 for the 10th Egypt-Greece-Cyprus Tripartite Summit, issuing a joint declaration on energy, regional security, and Eastern Mediterranean maritime stability. The three leaders agreed to establish a permanent secretariat for the trilateral mechanism in Nicosia, to advance the GREGY electricity interconnector linking Egypt and Greece to European grids, and to expedite plans connecting Cypriot gas fields with Egyptian liquefaction infrastructure for export to Europe. The declaration endorsed the second phase of the US-brokered Gaza peace plan and UN Security Council Resolution 2803, called for an independent Palestinian state on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, urged implementation of UN Resolution 1701 on Lebanon, backed Libya's political process without foreign interference, and voiced support for Egypt's water-security concerns over Ethiopian dam operations on the Nile. The summit coincided with President Sisi's opening of the 2nd El Alamein International Airshow at the same venue.
