IMF Seventh Review Mission Arrives in Cairo; ~$1.7 Billion Disbursement Expected in June

| Egypt

An IMF delegation arrived in Cairo on May 17 to begin the seventh review of Egypt's $8 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) approved in March 2024. A successful review is expected to unlock approximately $1.6–1.7 billion in new disbursements at a June 2026 board meeting, bringing total EFF drawdowns to roughly $7.5 billion. The mission focused heavily on privatization pipeline progress — a key program benchmark — alongside exchange rate flexibility and fiscal consolidation targets. The seventh review follows the February 2026 combined 5th/6th review that disbursed $2.27 billion. The IMF delegation concluded its Cairo visit by May 24 ahead of the scheduled board meeting.
