Egyptian Forces Exposed as Sudan's Blue Nile State Becomes New War Front
Sudan's Blue Nile State emerged as a major new front in the civil war, with RSF and SPLM-N forces advancing on Ed Damazin. Egyptian military personnel embedded with the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) near the area reportedly found themselves in a dangerously exposed position as TASIS (Sudan Founding Alliance) forces tightened their encirclement; Egypt reportedly sought safe passage for its troops toward Damazin. The development represented Egypt's deepest direct battlefield exposure in the Sudan war to date. Egypt's involvement in Blue Nile is strategically significant because the region controls tributaries feeding the Nile upstream from Egypt and lies close to the Ethiopian GERD dam zone.
