FARDC Says It Neutralized Four Suspected Rwandan Special Forces in Fizi Highlands; 14 M23-Twirwaneho Fighters Surrender
FARDC's Sukola 2 operations sector said a counter-operation between Mulima and Mukoko in the Fizi territory highlands, South Kivu, on Sept 15 neutralized four individuals it identified as Rwandan (RDF) special forces, with military equipment recovered from the site, according to spokesperson Sub-Lieutenant Reagan Mbuyi Kalonji. Separately, FARDC reported that 14 combatants affiliated with AFC/M23 and its ally Twirwaneho — including a former FARDC soldier, arriving notably from Rugezi and Mukoko — surrendered and laid down their weapons in the same period, and were taken into the army's care. The military renewed its call for remaining armed group members to disarm and join regular FARDC units. Neither Rwanda nor M23 issued a public response to the RDF neutralization claim.
