MTN Uganda Partners With Starlink to Extend Satellite Connectivity to Remote Enterprise Customers

MTN Uganda announced on August 27, 2026 a partnership with Starlink to bring LEO satellite-enabled connectivity to enterprise customers in remote and hard-to-reach parts of the country, building on Uganda's operational licence for Starlink granted in May 2026 and MTN Group's wider satellite strategy. The initial offer targets sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, humanitarian response, energy, tourism, financial services, and government, where terrestrial fibre and mobile infrastructure face practical deployment limits. MTN Uganda CEO Sylvia Mulinge said the deal 'strengthens our ability to support enterprise customers in remote and underserved areas with reliable satellite-enabled connectivity,' positioning satellite as a complementary layer rather than a replacement for MTN's terrestrial network.
