TikTok Influencer César Gastélum Shot Dead Mid-Livestream in Culiacán

Mexican TikTok content creator César Gastélum, who had roughly 600,000 followers and was known for comedy videos, was shot and killed while livestreaming with friends outside a fast-food restaurant in Culiacán. Two people on a motorcycle, both wearing helmets, approached and the driver opened fire directly at Gastélum on camera. Mexico's security secretariat said a preliminary investigation linked the killing to social media posts in which Gastélum had alluded to a faction of a criminal group — the latest in a string of influencer killings amid the ongoing La Mayiza–Los Chapitos conflict centered on the city.
