U.S. House Select Subcommittee Concludes COVID-19 Likely Came from Lab Leak
After a two-year investigation, the Republican-led House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic released a 520-page final report concluding that SARS-CoV-2 most likely originated from a laboratory incident at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. The report detailed circumstantial evidence including gain-of-function research funded by NIAID through EcoHealth Alliance, early illness among WIV staff, and China's refusal to cooperate with investigations. It also documented that Dr. David Morens, Fauci's senior advisor, allegedly destroyed federal COVID records. The CIA updated its assessment to favor research-related origin with low confidence.
