India's Catastrophic Second Wave Driven by Delta Variant
India experiences a catastrophic second wave, setting world records for daily cases and deaths. At its peak in May 2021, India records over 400,000 cases and 4,000 official deaths per day. Oxygen shortages cause preventable deaths; crematoria work around the clock. The actual death toll is estimated to be 8–10 times higher than official figures.
