Several European Countries Pause AstraZeneca over Rare Blood Clot Concerns
Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and other EU nations temporarily suspend the AstraZeneca vaccine after reports of rare thrombosis cases (VITT — Vaccine-Induced Immune Thrombocytopenia and Thrombosis). The EMA concludes the benefits outweigh risks, but the episode damages vaccine confidence. Many countries restrict the vaccine to older age groups.
