Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech Begin Phase 3 Trials
Both Moderna (mRNA-1273) and Pfizer/BioNTech (BNT162b2) launch massive Phase 3 trials enrolling ~30,000 participants each. These trials use a novel randomized placebo-controlled design compressed into months rather than years. AstraZeneca begins Phase 3 testing the same week.
