ACSN Armed Strike Ends After Nearly Four Days; Motorcycle Funeral for 'Cholo' and Six Others

The ACSN's Estado Mayor announced on Thursday, September 24, that its armed strike would end the following morning; by Friday, September 25, Santa Marta was returning to normal after nearly four days in which armed men on motorcycles intimidated merchants and transporters, closing more than 90% of commerce, suspending public transportation, the public market, and the Troncal del Caribe highway, and keeping students out of school across Santa Marta, Magdalena and La Guajira. The same day, a motorcycle procession accompanied the coffins of alias 'Cholo' and the six other alleged ACSN members killed in the September 21 security-force operation to their burial. President Abelardo de la Espriella traveled to Santa Marta to lead a security council on next steps.
