Grupo Argos and Nicky Jam Scale Up 'Adopta un Hogar' Earthquake Rebuild to 1,000 Homes

Following the September 7 handover of the first rebuilt house in Quibdó's Medrano neighborhood, Grupo Argos and artist Nicky Jam detailed the expansion of their 'Adopta un Hogar' initiative: an initial COP 13 billion (≈$4.2 million) commitment aimed at a COP 26 billion match, targeting 1,000 prefabricated homes across six departments — 500 in Chocó, 235 in Valle del Cauca, 100 in Risaralda, 100 in Caldas, 40 in Quindío and 25 in Antioquia. Grupo Argos reconstruction manager Carlos Mario Gómez described the standardized, rapid-assembly structural system as working 'like Lego,' with local residents trained on the construction system so the rebuilding knowledge stays permanently in Chocó. The full project is estimated at over COP 100 billion (~$32 million) once matching funds and partners are secured.
