Operation AMÓN: Military Kills Eight Calarcá Dissidents in Guaviare Bombing-Raid

| Colombia

Colombia's armed forces killed eight fighters from the FARC-EP dissident faction led by alias 'Calarcá' — specifically the Jorge Suárez Briceño Bloc and Rodrigo Cadete structure — in a pre-dawn operation near El Retorno, Guaviare, President de la Espriella announced. Code-named Operation AMÓN, the strike combined a precision bombing run by five Kfir fighter jets and six Super Tucano aircraft with a follow-up commando raid by Joint Special Operations Command troops, who seized more than a dozen rifles and five machine guns. 'Colombia must know that we are going on the offensive,' de la Espriella said, warning dissident commanders 'will have nowhere to hide and no sanctuary anywhere in the national territory.' The government presented the strike as the first of 15 planned operations targeting armed-group leadership within its first 100 days.
