Mexico Delivers 58 Tonnes of Earthquake Aid Despite Rescue-Team Dispute
Mexico completed its third logistical flight of humanitarian aid to Colombia via Mexican Air Force aircraft, bringing the total to roughly 58 tonnes of drinking water, medicine, and rescue equipment for communities affected by the earthquake, even as diplomatic friction persisted over Colombia's earlier rejection of a Mexican rescue brigade. Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula confirmed acceptance of 58.5 tonnes of Mexican aid, and President Claudia Sheinbaum reaffirmed Mexico's solidarity with the Colombian people. Israel and Chile also delivered aid shipments during the week, and the IFRC launched a CHF 25 million appeal to scale up the Colombian Red Cross's response.
