Kast Signals He Will Withdraw Constitutional Security Reform

Kast signalled on October 1 that he would withdraw the constitutional security reform sent to the Senate on August 17, after it lacked the votes. Senators Pedro Araya, Arturo Squella and Andrés Longton are drafting a cross-party text that drops the security state of exception but keeps organized-crime and prison measures. Amnesty International Chile had criticised the original bill on September 30.
