A Criteria Research poll fielded September 3–4 and published September 6 put President Kast's approval at 30% — down 3 points and a new low — with disapproval up to 58%. 51% rated the country's current economic situation bad and only 3% good, while 52% said Chile is going backward; on economic management, 42% said the government is improvising on growth and 45% said it is improvising on job creation, versus 20% and 17% respectively who saw a clear plan. The poll also found the country split on Kast's Magallanes diplomacy: 43% disagreed with his decision not to press Milei to sign a document stating the Strait of Magellan belongs exclusively to Chile, while 41% supported it.
