Security Chief Aina Calvo Relocates to Ceuta; Madrid Sets Two-Week Deadline to Clear Migrants From the Streets
Spain's Secretary of State for Security, Aina Calvo, has relocated to Ceuta to directly oversee the accommodation and processing operation, under a command structure now chaired by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez himself. The government says it aims to move remaining migrants off the streets and into temporary accommodation sites within two weeks, is launching a dedicated processing centre within days, will conduct some asylum interviews remotely from mainland Spain, and is accelerating returns to Morocco focused on adults judged unlikely to qualify for asylum.
