Anti-Racism Observatory Logs Nearly 9,600 Hate Posts Over Ceuta Crisis
Spain's Observatory on Racism and Xenophobia (OBERAXE) reports 9,590 hate messages logged in just the two days of the July 30-31 crossing, part of a broader jump to 57,406 hate-content items in July, up from 40,800 in June. People from North Africa were the largest target group (68%), followed by immigrants generally (19%) and Muslims (16%). Content themes include linking migration to crime (48%), racist World Cup-related commentary (34%) and migration policy (17%); 40% of flagged posts dehumanise targeted groups and 15% call for expulsion. Platform removal rates varied widely, from 93% on X to just 14% on YouTube.
