EU Interior Ministers Hold Crisis Videoconference

| Ceuta / Schengen Crisis

European interior ministers hold an emergency videoconference on the crisis. Migration Commissioner Magnus Brunner calls it 'a test of our European resilience' and offers Frontex support for surveillance, registration and returns; Commission President von der Leyen calls the images from Ceuta 'unacceptable' and voices support for Spain. Spain's Interior Minister Grande-Marlaska says the EU 'acknowledged the work Spain has carried out' and calls the outcome 'satisfactory,' even as Italy, Finland, Austria, Sweden, Denmark and Czechia continue pressing for Schengen suspension.
