Labrador Wildfires Trigger State of Emergency, Canada Day Cancelled

Lightning-sparked fires including the Walsh River fire (472 ha) near Labrador City prompted evacuation orders for Walsh River, Tamarack Golf Course, Duley Lake and Throne Lake — about 120 residents evacuated within a 30 km radius. Canada Day celebrations were postponed in St. John's, Labrador City and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
