Doval and Wang Yi Hold 25th Round of India-China Boundary Talks in Beijing

India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval traveled to Beijing and co-chaired the 25th round of Special Representatives' Talks on the India-China Boundary Question with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on August 25, 2026, part of the channel established in 2003 between the two BRICS founding members. Both sides reaffirmed the 2005 political guiding principles for a political settlement of the boundary dispute, reviewed progress since the Kazan (October 2024) and Tianjin (August 2025) leaders' meetings, and noted the resumption of people-to-people exchanges including the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra and border trade through designated passes. Doval also held a separate bilateral meeting with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng. Doval described India and China as 'partners, not competitors,' and the two sides agreed the 26th round of talks will be held in India during 2027. The thaw comes weeks ahead of the September 12-13 New Delhi BRICS summit, where both Xi Jinping and Modi are expected to attend.
