BRICS Sports Ministers Adopt Joint Declaration in Visakhapatnam
India hosted the BRICS Sports Ministers' Meeting in Visakhapatnam on August 23, 2026, the second day of the Youth and Sports ministerial track under its 2026 BRICS Chairship. Heads of delegation from Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the UAE adopted the BRICS Sports Joint Declaration by consensus. Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya called for a 'BRICS Sporting Partnership' moving beyond declarations into tangible collaboration, and ministers backed two new initiatives: a BRICS Sports Manufacturing Conclave, with Udaipur volunteering to host its inaugural edition in November 2026, and a non-competitive BRICS Games showcasing traditional and indigenous sporting heritage, proposed for Ahmedabad on October 12-13, 2026. Ministers from India, UAE, Indonesia, Egypt, Iran, Ethiopia and South Africa also joined a BRICS Friendship Cycling ride as part of the 87th 'Fit India Sundays' edition.
