Lara Convenes ALP Session on Extension as CSUTCB Declares "Permanent Mobilization"

Vice President Edmand Lara convened the Legislative Assembly's Seventeenth Ordinary Session for Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 16:00 to consider Decree 5707. The same day, the Evo Morales-aligned peasant confederation CSUTCB declared itself "en estado de emergencia y movilización permanente" against the extension, arguing it would deepen protest criminalization and entrench authoritarian measures, and set a national "Evo Pueblo" assembly for Sept. 26 in Lauca Ñ to define its response. Former president Jorge Tuto Quiroga separately urged the government to first report the state of exception's results before seeking a new term, warning the extension risked delaying constitutional-reform debate; COD Chuquisaca also rejected the measure.
