Lara Files Criminal Complaint Against First Lady and Cerimedo Over Police Commander's Removal

Vice President Edmand Lara's legal team filed a criminal complaint with the Public Ministry against First Lady María Elena "Bibi" Urquidi and Fernando Cerimedo for six alleged offenses: aggravated influence trafficking, misuse of influence, criminal association, organized crime, state-damaging contracts, and illicit enrichment of private individuals affecting the State. The complaint is based on an audio in which a voice attributed to Urquidi asks Cerimedo to help remove then-Police Commander General Mirko Sokol at the request of a man identified only as "Miguelito" — whom Lara says is Miguel Rockholt Montaño, a figure with a drug-trafficking record who was reportedly being investigated by anti-narcotics officers under Sokol's command. In the recording, Cerimedo — describing Sokol as "useless" — commits to arranging his removal. Lara's team requested forensic, acoustic and phonetic analysis to authenticate the recording and identify the voices; Sokol resigned Aug 31.
