Phone Messages Allegedly Link Presidential Intelligence Chief to Beller Shooting

Bolivia's Institute of Forensic Investigations (IDIF) extracted chats from Fernando Cerimedo's phone showing a contact saved as "ECG" — whom Nadia Beller and Evo Morales identify as Erik Correa González, the Paz government's intelligence chief — messaging in real time during the Aug 17 attack: "¿le digo que la busquen ahí?" ("should I tell them to look for her there?"), followed by "hermano, en este momento le dispararon, está herida" ("brother, they just shot her, she's wounded"). Investigators also flagged 11 deleted calls between Cerimedo and the same contact that day, plus a message dated Aug 13 that prosecutors say points to premeditation. Beller publicly demanded President Paz break his silence on Cerimedo's role, and she and Morales have called the shooting a "state crime" implicating government and police; no charges have been filed against any official beyond Cerimedo, and the presidency has not directly addressed the ECG identification.
