Amnesty International: CNDH Recommendation 'Backs State Actions,' Weakens Rights Protections

Amnesty International warned that the CNDH's Recommendation 208VG/2026 'opted to back the actions of the State' and delegitimized the work of international bodies and civil society organizations that have accompanied the families' search for justice. The organization noted that despite 17 Army members linked to legal proceedings in the case, the CNDH exonerated the Defense Ministry citing insufficient evidence, and said the recommendation sends an 'alarming message' about Mexico's institutional commitment to accountability for forced disappearances.
