Artemis III SLS Booster Segments Secured to Mobile Launcher — Stacking Campaign Begins
The left-hand and right-hand aft assembly solid rocket booster segments for the Artemis III SLS rocket were secured to the mobile launcher inside Kennedy Space Center's Vehicle Assembly Building on Saturday, July 11, 2026 — less than three months after Artemis II's crew safely returned to Earth. The remaining booster segments, shipped by rail from Northrop Grumman's Utah facility in June, are being inspected, processed, and coated at Kennedy's Rotation, Processing, and Surge Facility before being placed in lift stands for stacking. Artemis III crew members Randy Bresnik and Andre Douglas visited Exploration Ground Systems teams at the right-hand aft booster segment on Friday, July 10, 2026, ahead of the stacking milestone.
