Artemis II Mission Day 2: Glover Completes Manual Orion Piloting Test; Crew Systems Checked

| Artemis II

On Mission Day 2, Artemis II Pilot Victor Glover completed an extended manual piloting evaluation of the Orion spacecraft — a planned test of the crew's ability to manually control the capsule using its reaction control system thrusters. The test, lasting over one hour, validated crew interface procedures and Orion's manual handling qualities in the space environment. Separately, the crew reported and resolved a toilet malfunction before their first sleep period. The issue was traced to a drain blockage and resolved with on-orbit maintenance procedures. All four crew members — Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, Mission Specialist Christina Koch, and Mission Specialist Jeremy Hansen — were reported in good health. Orion's 63-foot solar arrays remained fully deployed and power generation was nominal. The spacecraft continues on its outbound trajectory toward the Moon for the 10-day lunar flyby mission.
